Your internet speed decides the picture quality you get. Here is what we recommend for each quality level, per screen.
Recommended speeds
- SD: 5 Mbps
- HD (720p): 10 Mbps
- Full HD (1080p): 15 Mbps
- 4K: 25 Mbps or more
If two people watch at the same time on a multi-connection plan, add the speeds together. Two Full HD streams need about 30 Mbps.
How to test your speed
Open a speed test website on the same device you use to watch, at the time you usually watch. Evening speeds are often lower than morning speeds.
How to get a faster connection at home
- Use an Ethernet cable for your TV or box when you can.
- Move your router closer to the TV, or add a mesh Wi-Fi point.
- Use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band instead of 2.4 GHz.
- Pause big downloads and game updates while you watch.
